Antique Qashqai Carpet
Period: Late 19th century
Origin: Southwest Iran
Dimensions: 232×330 cm
This late 19th century Qashqai rug is a spectacular representation of the nomadic weaving traditions from Southwest Persia. The Qashqai tribes are celebrated for their highly sophisticated aesthetic sense and their ability to create complex, multi layered compositions using premium hand spun wool and vibrant natural dyes.
The design features a classic “all over” arrangement of stylized floral rosettes and geometric stars, densely packed across a deep midnight blue field. The hexagonal central area is defined by sharp, serrated edges in terracotta and ivory, creating a powerful sense of movement and architectural depth. Throughout the field, miniature tribal motifs and bird figures are scattered between the larger icons, a characteristic touch that reveals the weaver’s personal creative spirit.
