This late 19th century Ushak rug is a magnificent example of the grand, decorative tradition from Western Anatolia. Ushak rugs from this period are highly celebrated for their large scale patterns and a unique, softer color palette that made them incredibly popular among European and American aristocracies during the late Victorian era.

The composition features a series of monumental, angular medallions and stylized floral motifs that float gracefully across a cool slate grey field. Rather than the dense ornamentation found in other Persian or Turkish styles, this design embraces an open, spacious layout that highlights the bold architectural forms of the motifs. The palette is exceptionally harmonious, utilizing soft shades of apricot, golden ochre, and ivory to create a warm and inviting aesthetic.
