Saryk Chuval

A classic Saryk chuval presenting twenty primary guls, chemche secondary designs and kochanak hook forms in the main border. The wide elem and a narrow stripe at the upper end are decorated with small plants. This chuval was woven in the surroundings of the Merv oasis. The primary guls, with their light red wool sections and brilliant white cotton sections, stand out to striking effect from the deep red ground of the field.
