The rug is defined by its striking mihrab, featuring the characteristic high, stepped arch that is the hallmark of Ghiordes weaving.

The central field is a serene, open expanse of ivory, unadorned save for a delicate floral cluster suspended from the apex of the arch, symbolizing the mosque lamp or kandil. This plain, light-colored field creates a dramatic contrast with the dense, polychrome floral patterns in navy and red that fill the spandrels above the arch.

Framing this central composition is a sophisticated series of multiple borders; the wide main border displays a rhythmic arrangement of stylized palmettes and leaves, flanked by numerous narrower guard stripes that add texture and depth.
